Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Stag Hunt collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what the group needs to work, show it only to members, and never sell it or use it for ads.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google email address, name and the fact that the email is verified. Nothing else from your Google account.
- Your profile. Anything you choose to add: photo, headline, location, bio, networks, sectors, typical check size, and LinkedIn, X or website links.
- What you post. Deals, materials links, scores and reasons, comments, chat messages, nominations, pledges, investment amounts you log, and outcomes.
- Sign-in data. For Face ID / Touch ID, we store a public key for each device. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your device. Email sign-in codes and links are stored only in scrambled form and expire after 10 minutes.
- Basic technical data. A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. Your IP address, kept for about an hour to block abuse. Standard server logs from our hosting provider.
We don't use advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.
How we use it
- To run the group: sign you in, show deals and discussions to members, keep the members list, and show reputation (deals brought, scores, pledges kept, good calls).
- To send emails you'd expect: sign-in links, new-deal alerts and the weekly digest (you can turn both off in your profile), mention notifications, and admin notices such as membership requests.
- To keep the site safe and working, and to make monthly backups of the group's deal records, which are sent to admins.
Who can see it
- Members and observers can see your profile, what you post, and your reputation. Observers can read but are hidden from the members list, apart from a line naming them.
- The public sees none of it. Public pages show only group-level totals, never members, companies or deal terms.
- Service providers. The site runs on Cloudflare (hosting, database, email delivery, and the speech-to-text and AI models used for recorded calls). If you choose Google sign-in, Google handles that step. They process data only to provide these services.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it.
We never sell your personal information.
Recorded founder calls
A member can record a conversation with a founder on their phone so the deal fills itself in. Here is exactly what happens:
- Consent first. The member must tell the founder they're recording and confirm the founder agreed before recording starts.
- Audio is never saved. Each minute of sound is sent to Cloudflare's speech-to-text service, turned into text, and discarded.
- The transcript is private. Only the member who recorded it can see it. It's deleted when they post the deal, when they discard the draft, or after 7 days, whichever comes first.
- AI drafts, a person checks. An AI model on Cloudflare drafts the deal's answers from the transcript. It never scores deals. The member checks every answer before posting, and the deal says it was drafted from a recorded call.
- Recordings and transcripts are never used to train AI models or shared outside the service.
Founder applications
Founders can apply at staghunts.com/apply. We keep what you send so members can read it. Only signed-in members see your application, and only the member who takes your call sees your email address. We email you once to confirm we got it. If a member shares your company with the group, your answers become part of that deal's record. Ask us any time to delete your application.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while you're a member. If you leave or are removed, your sign-ins are deleted right away. Deals, scores and messages you posted may stay in the group's record so the history makes sense. You can ask us to delete or anonymize your profile and personal details.
Your choices
- Edit or remove profile details and your photo at any time in your profile.
- Turn email alerts on or off in your profile.
- Edit or delete your own chat messages.
- Contact us to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account.
Security
Connections are encrypted. Session tokens and sign-in codes are stored only in hashed form, and passkeys keep your biometrics on your device. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.
Children
Stag Hunt is for adults only. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
